Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose A-CPT exam over other certification exam?

There are many good certification exams available. However, the A-CPT exam requirements are higher than most. The A-CPT qualifications include the education and hand-on requirements that should be expected of everyone. The hands-on requirement is there to insure that the clients of the A-CPT certified have hands-on experienced personal trainers. A-CPT exam is accredited by NCCA.

How do I check my eligibility to take the exam?

You will receive a notification that you are eligible to sit for the A-CPT exam once your documentation is approved and your fee has been paid. To test, you will need a Diploma from a State approved 500 hour program or an associate degree in a health related field and 200 of practical experience and CPR/1st Aid certification. You may call 215-914-2003 to find out any information or email us at info@acptcertification.com.

Where can I get 200 hours of practical experience if I have a degree in a health related field?

  • Paid and Unpaid experiences (work or volunteer).
  • Supervised or mentored experience.

This experience can be completed in a clinical or fitness center setting. The documentation of his experience must be included with your application.

Is there a ACPT practice exam?

At this time we do not have a practice test available. Please visit the Candidate Handbook for the books used and the topics covered in the exam.

You may access https://webassessor.com/TWCC up to 72 hours before the exam to cancel or change your exam time and location.

How far in advance must you schedule an exam?

Depending on the exam center, Kryterion may administer same-day exams. Other examinations may require up to two weeks advance appointment scheduling to ensure that the testing center has availability. Your test sponsor may provide you with specific information for the examination you are trying to schedule.

Can I see which questions I answered incorrectly?

No, you will receive a pass or fail notification. If your score was not passing you will receive an itemized percentage within each performance domain.

When should I plan to arrive at the testing center?

You should arrive at the testing center at least 30 minutes before the test is scheduled to begin.

What type of identification must I bring to the test center?

ID requirements vary for many exams; unfortunately we cannot list each on this page. It is the examinee's responsibility to review the ID requirements for the exam you are taking before making your appointment. Please refer to your exam sponsor registration information for their specific ID requirements.
In general, most exams require the following:
For Academic or Professional Licensure & Certification exams, you must have one valid government-issued ID bearing photo & signature. If the ID does not have either the photo or signature, a secondary ID must be presented that does.

What are acceptable forms of identification?

Acceptable forms of photo identification include:

  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • Military identification
  • Employee identification card

Acceptable forms of non-photo identification include:

  • Credit card
  • Check cashing card

Social Security cards are not considered acceptable forms of identification.

Are there lockers? Can I keep my purse with me?

Because the only item allowed into the testing area is identification, we encourage test takers to leave personal items at home. To accommodate those items that cannot be left behind (such as purses), the testing centers may have small lockers available.

I am on medication. May I bring drinks/food into the testing room?

Food and drinks are not permitted in the testing rooms. Many of the exams that we administer do allow you to take a break. The exams that do not offer break time will allow you to leave the testing area to get a drink or take medication. However, the amount of time designated for that exam is not stopped when you are away from your computer.

Are there special accommodations available or do you provide special conditions equipment?

Special equipment is available if requested and approved in advance by your test sponsor. This request is then forwarded to the testing center to implement the day of the exam.

With your registration and documentation, please include a doctor's letter explaining the type of disability involved. Also include in your documentation the special accommodation that you are asking for. Please contact TW-CC/A-CPT to discuss your special testing needs.

How crowded are the testing rooms? I need to be in a quiet environment.

Many of the testing labs are set up with as many as 16 workstations, although the number of candidates on a daily basis may vary. Test center administrators aim to provide a quiet and comfortable environment for all test takers. Noise reducing headsets are available for an even quieter environment. These headsets are not to be confused with our audio headsets, which are used for exams that contain audio sections, and are also available at each testing station. Your Test Center Administrator would be glad to assist you if you have questions.
