Denise Griffin-Stevenson

Denise is a graduate of massage and has enjoyed her position as an instructor since 2006. Denise is a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse with over 10 years experience working in various acute rehab hospitals in the local area. She currently specializes in spinal cord, brain injured and orthopedic patients at Magee Rehab Hospital. Denise has also completed her operator and instructor certification at the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute for Cosmetology. In addition to teaching, Denise is currently building her private client base focusing on the rehab population, with special attention to pain management, community re-entry, quality of life, and relaxation techniques for both patients and caregivers.

 

Nicole Slowinski

Nicole earned a BS in Physical Education Teaching from McPherson College and a MA in Health Promotions with an emphasis in Fitness Management from the University of Northern Iowa. She currently serves as a Leadership Development Specialist for Advocate Healthcare, part time Personal Trainer at a medical fitness center, and an Adjunct Health Professor at North Park University.

Additional experiences include a position as an Exercise Physiologist for a medically based wellness facility, Fitness Specialist at corporate wellness sites, National Network Trainer for Life Fitness Academy as well as teaching and program work at the University of Northern Iowa. Her many experiences within the fitness and education field have led to opportunities to coordinate grant funded and revenue based programs; program management of annual community events; provide trainings for continuing education credits for fitness professionals; provide support at fitness trade shows for Medical Fitness Association, Athletic Business Conference and Club Industry; and assist in interviewing, hiring and developing fitness professionals. Her goal in staying current in the field is also achieved by participation and certifications in American College of Sports Medicine, Wellcoaches, and membership with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

 

Tim Piper

Tim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Western Illinois University, where he has taught since 1994. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Exercise Science from WIU and is currently taking doctoral courses from Northern Illinois University in Adult and Higher Education. Upon completion of his MS degree from WIU he was offered a full time position to teach the undergraduate coursework related to strength and conditioning as well as courses related to training special populations. He has published over 15 articles in peer reviewed journals, over 15 articles in popular magazines, and has presented at numerous state, regional and national conventions. He is a NSCA-CSCS*D, USAW Senior Coach, and has held numerous service positions with the American Drug Free Powerlifting Federation, USA Weightlifting, USA All-round Weightlifting Association, Highland Games, and USA Powerlifting.

On top of his current teaching load Tim also volunteers as a coach at the local Salvation Army Weight Room 2 hours each day where he trains athletes of all levels, as well as trains for his own strength sport competitions. He also teaches 2 group strength training courses at the local YMCA for individuals with a broad range of goals, limitations, and special considerations. In the summer he also teaches 1-2 conditioning classes for junior high age students. As a part of some of his courses at WIU he mentors students as they assist, design, and implement exercise classes with older adults in the Macomb community.

Andrew M. Liebman

Andrew earned a BA in Economics and Business Administration at City University of New York. He also holds an MBA from Baruch College of City University of New York. He has garnered thirty years of teaching experience at the college and university level.

He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Management Marketing at Holy Family University, at which he has been employed for 22 years. Professor Liebman also heads the Sports Marketing Management program at Holy Family University.

His additional collegiate/university teaching experiences include: MBA Level: Monmouth University, LaSalle University, Embry Riddle University; BA/BS Level: Lycoming College, Stockton State College; BA/BS Adult Accelerated: Immaculata University;

Professor Liebman also holds Professional Memberships with: American Marketing Association (National), American Marketing Association (Philadelphia Chapter), Mu Kappa Tau and Sigma Beta Delta
